Ladies and gentlemen, hockey is back.
With all the excitement surrounding the World Cup of Hockey, obviously I have a bunch of stuff planned for the next couple weeks. A World Cup rankings article is coming out on the Oak Leaf website in the next couple days, and my LachTalksHockey videos make their season debut on Wednesday.
Another exciting development is the return of the Oak Leaf hockey podcasts, but this time under a new name! The SRJC Polar Bears Podcast will cover both the NHL and the Polar Bears college team over the course of the entire hockey season, and I’m so excited to be a part of it. Our first episode will debut this Thursday; we haven’t decided the podcast’s regular schedule, but my assumption is either a weekly or bi-weekly strategy.
Staying with the Polar Bears, I’ve made the difficult decision to not play for the club this season. Instead I’ll be joining the Polar Bears’ social media department and helping write articles for the team’s website. It was a tough call, but I feel it was the right decision for helping my journalism career moving forward.
So far September has been an excellent month for the blog, and I hope you’ll stay along for the ride as we enter my first full season as a hockey reporter. Thank you so much for your continued support, and enjoy the World Cup of Hockey. Go Canada and North America! – Lach
